Project X - The C-A-G-E-D System

This tip comes from my old friend Andrew Koblick, of Guitar5Day. Andy has a great new lessons resource, which he mysteriously calls "Project X", and this video lesson is an extract from the course. It explains the C-A-G-E-D system, and shows you how to use this to master the fretboard. Somewhat radically, Andy shows that, while the general thinking is that you need to use five forms for playing scales and lead runs, this can actually be reduced down to just TWO! Obviously, this makes the art of gaining control of your guitar's entire fretboard so much easier.

Watch this great lesson right now at the link below:

If you liked this 'teaser' lesson, you can find out more about Project X, and pick up a $30 discount on the price of the course at the link below:

The Art of Practice

Ok, it's something we all know we gotta do, but most of us will do almost anything to postpone the inevitable need to practice - sing a bunch of songs, play our favourite 'show-off' chops, even change strings!

It's really all about discipline, and having a plan and a method to your practice mentality.

Chris Elmore, owner of ElmoreMusic, and co-owner with myself of GuitarBackingTracks has it covered in this really helpful article, which sets you on the right path to organizing your practice time, while throwing in some cool arpeggio patterns to get you up and running!

Climbing the Scales to Success

Chris Elmore, owner of ElmoreMusic, and co-owner with myself of GuitarBackingTracks has supplied another very useful tip for my Blog readers.

Chris has made the transition from top guitarist in his native Australia to teacher of guitar players all around the world. Any of you who have subscribed to one or more of the great courses under the ElmoreMusic banner will know that he gives freely of his time and advice.

He has many practical lessons on Guitar Scales in the GuitarTips course, but as an old friend, has taken time out to share some valuable pointers with my Blog readers. Check out the guitar scales tip below:
